The EBC was set up in 1990 and today is made up of ten organizations representing eight countries and approximately 300,000 small and medium-sized enterprises in the building sector. The work of the EBC consists of: promoting and defending the interests of builders; acting as a link for the exchange of information; and promoting and improving the image of the crafts organizations and the small and medium-sized enterprises working in construction in Europe.
The European Committee for Standardization, is an association that brings together the National Standardization Bodies of 34 European countries. CEN supports standardization activities in relation to a wide range of fields and sectors including: air and space, chemicals, construction, consumer products, defense and security, energy, the environment, food and feed, health and safety, healthcare, ICT, machinery, materials, pressure equipment, services, smart living & transport.
The EEA is a European interest grouping created in October 1990 by several elevator companies in the European Union. It now has 84 members. EEA decided in 2002 to join the European Lift Association (ELA) regrouping all lift and escalator associations in Europe, to speak with one voice to the European Commission and other international organizations.
EFESME is the European SMEs voice in the lift industry, representing and defending at EU level the interests of SMEs operating in the lift business.
Thanks to its national members, EFESME speaks for installers, contractors, manufacturers and/or component producers, taking their voice at European and international level.
The objective of ELA is to collect and update information, to set up databases and publish statistics on equipment and services, to participate in codes and standards formulations and to promote quality, safety and technical standards and to generally promote the installation and safe use of lifts, escalators & moving walks throughout the continent.
The Federation groups chambers and associations - as well as the Elevator Safety Committee - located throughout the country to promote norms and directives that ensure the users' safety and the professionalism of the sector.
FEEDA represents the interests of companies engaged in the design, manufacture, installation, servicing and repair of lifts. It assists and encourages in Spain the maintenance of high standards of safety, service and production. FEEDA is a member of EFLA.
