The National Research Council's IRC is Canada's construction technology center. Established in 1947, IRC provides research, building code development and materials evaluation services. Working with partners, IRC addresses issues that have a large economic impact, assisting industry to innovate and develop technologies that are safe, durable and cost effective.

The International Code Council, a membership association dedicated to building safety and fire prevention, develops the codes used to construct residential and commercial buildings, including homes and schools. Most U.S. cities, counties and states that adopt codes choose the International Codes developed by the International Code Council.
IEC provides voluntary world standards for electrical, electronic and telecommunications industries. Standards allow for electrical and electronic eqpt., systems and sub-systems to work together no matter where they're designed, manufactured, assembled or used. IEC standards are used as the basis of national rules and standards in more than 140 countries.
